About Me
I am a former high school social studies teacher passionate about helping schools innovate. I am currently studying educational innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am also interning with The City of Raleigh's Office of Strategy and Innovation. I'm looking forward to applying what I've learned to improve learning outcomes.
The University of Maryland
I earned a BA in communication from the University of Maryland at College Park in 2012. I loved the unique classes available to me through the University Honors and study abroad programs. Stars and Stellar Systems, The Science of Sleep, and The Historical Development of London helped me develop a love of learning purely for the sake of learning.

I returned to the University of Maryland to earn a M.Ed in curriculum and instruction. My classes on methods in teaching social studies helped me see that teaching world history was much more than facts and dates. I wanted to help students learn to make their own impact on the world.
Teaching experience
I taught social studies at Justice High School in Falls Church, Virginia from 2016 to 2013. I loved working on innovating instruction and assessment to make school more relevant and engaging. Our world history team made the shift from multiple-choice exams to performance-based writing assessments years before the state replaced standardized tests with writing assessments. I designed a conceptual framework for teaching history, piloted a cross-curricular cohort, and launched our school's IB Psychology program. These opportunities motivated me to learn how to support and scale innovative practices in schools.
The MEITE Program
In The University of North Carolina's Master's in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Program, I have learned about learning theory, emerging trends in education, entrepreneurial strategy, and the design thinking process for approaching complex problems. Through the program, I've had the opportunity to work with The City of Raleigh's Office of Strategy and Innovation to apply design thinking to innovative staff development programming.
Future Goals
I want to help create the future of education. I'm interested in building and supporting programs that develop the skills and mindsets that students need to succeed in the modern world.
Fun facts
I love traveling and exploring new places. I want to visit all of the National Parks and Major League Baseball parks. I've been to 14 of the 30 MLB parks so far. Zion is my favorite National Park and Pittsburgh is my favorite baseball park. I'm a Nationals fan though, so Nationals Park always feels like home.
